The Nextbit Robin, which was launched in October 2015 with Android 6.0 Marshmallow, is now receiving the Android 7.0 Nougat update. Well, this might just be the last update for Robin unless Nextbit manages to roll out the 7.1.1 Nougat update before July.
This Android 7.0 Nougat update which is being rolled out to Nextbit Robin has build number 88 and carries January 5, 2017 Android security patch. Well, the latest patch is March 5, 2017 , however, at the best, we would have liked to see this update coming with the February security patch instead.
As this is a Nougat update, Robin users will get new features like multi-window, quick reply, bundled notifications, customizable quick settings and more. If you are unaware, Nextbit was acquired by gaming company Razer in January this year. While the sale of Robin has stopped post acquisition of Nextbit by Razer, the company has said that it would continue product support and software updates for Robin for the next six months (that’s why the July window for 7.1.1 Nougat update).
The biggest highlight of Nextbit Robin is the 100 GB cloud storage offered by the company. While the device comes with only 32 GB storage with no option for storage expansion via microSD card, a software on the phone makes sure you don’t run out of storage by deciding what is stored on the internal storage of the phone and what goes in the cloud storage.
Coming back to the Nougat update, it’s being rolled out over-the-air and would take some time to reach your device. If you don’t get update notification, you can check for the update manually by heading to the Settings menu. Also, the update is said to be around 1.5 GB in size, hence, we suggest you download it over a Wi-Fi connection.
