Is Apple getting its image sensors for the iPhone made by Sony? According to sources Sony’s CEO, Howard Stringer said that their camera image sensor facility in Sendai was affected by the tsunami and getting image sensors to Apple will be delayed. He also added, “Our best senor technology is built in one of the (tsunami) affected factories. Those go to Apple for their iPhones…or iPads. Isn’t that something? They buy our best sensors from us?”
Now there hasn’t been any confirmed news of Sony making sensors for Apple, but now according to The Street, the fifth generation iPhone would pack an 8 megapixel camera from Sony and the same report correctly predicted a 5 megapixel sensor for the iPhone 4. Let’s wait and watch what story proves out to be true.
