The much awaited and possibly the most leaked smartphone of the recent past has finally been made official. The HTC One (M8) aka All New HTC One is here in all its metal glory and well, as we expected it looks stunning.
The HTC One (M8) features a similar design to its predecessor but there’s slightly narrower bezels and the device is now all metal. The metal body also has a new brushed hairline texture. It measures 146 x 70.5 x 9.5mm, so it won’t win any awards for thickness, that’s for sure. The device weighs 157 grams. There’s on-screen navigation buttons on the front along with the dual BoomSound stereo speakers, which HTC claims are 25% louder.
While we have already known most of the specs of the HTC One (M8), here’s reiterating them with an official stamp on them. The All New One features a 5-inch Full HD (1920x1080p) display and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for scratch resistance. The device is powered by a 2.26 GHz Snapdragon 801 processor coupled with 2GB of RAM. There’s 16 or 32GB internal storage and microSD expansion up to 128GB.
HTC has equipped the new HTC One (M8) with Duo UltraPixel cameras. The Duo UltraPixel cameras have had us curious since many days and we finally know about it. Out of the two cameras on the rear, one is the same UltraPixel camera with (1/3″ BSI sensor, f/2.0 aperture, 28mm lens, pixel size of 2.0 microns), while the other is a focus and depth sensing camera. HTC likes to call the Duo Camera as depth sensing cameras. There is a brand new dual-tone LED flash as well, similar to what the iPhone 5s offers. As rumored, a new 5MP front facing camera is present and it has the same f/2.0 aperture and wide angle lens. The front facing camera also captures 1080p video and HDR capability.
The HTC One (M8) runs on the brand new Sense 6.0 on top of the latest and greatest Android 4.4 KitKat. Sense 6.0 brings themes and new custom color schemes. There are also a number of cool new software tricks HTC brings with Sense 6.0. There are new camera tricks, gestures, new music player, FitBit integration and many more improvements. There’s also Sense TV in tow.
On the connectivity front, there’s everything you need, LTE included. There’s a 2600 mAh battery to keep things running. While the HTC One (M8) already goes on sale in the US and UK today, it will reach other parts of the world in April. India is expected to get the latest HTC flagship in the third week of April. The device as we already know will be available in Grey, Silver and Gold. HTC has also unveiled the Dot View flip cover for the device as well.
