The Mobile World Congress (MWC 2014) event might just be this year’s biggest event, even bigger than CES or IFA. While updates for the event will start pouring in tomorrow, there is so much to be unveiled at the event that we can’t stop gushing about it.
MWC will transform Barcelona into the hottest place in the world in the next few days and we will make sure that you don’t miss a beat from this awesome event. Here’s what to expect from it.
Samsung – Galaxy S5, Galaxy Gear 2
Samsung is definitely the biggest stunner at MWC 2014. The Galaxy S5 is getting hotter by the minute, with its every detail featuring in leaks and rumors. Samsung has already released a teaser for its Unpacked event, set to take place at the MWC. It is the most confirmation we can get that the device will be unveiled at the event – the video is littered with 5 in superscript as is the invite. The Galaxy S5 is rumored to have an invisible camera button, a full HD display and more. The device is highly anticipated, because the flagship device should showcase new technology from Samsung, competing against the likes of iPhone 5S and Lumia 1520.
Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 is another device that is rumored for the event. The first iteration of the Galaxy Gear was a bust, but we are hoping that they have improved with this one.
The Galaxy Gear 2 is surrounded by a lot of rumors – It might come with Samsung’s Tizen OS instead of Android or maybe in both Android and Tizen versions. It is also expected to come with more features and might even be accompanied by a Galaxy Band which will be a fitness band from the company.
Sony – Xperia Z2
Sony is holding a developer summit on February 23. The Sony Xperia Z2, might surface that day. The back cover, camera and 3 GB RAM are some of the rumors about this handset. Not just that, the camera might receive a huge upgrade, like it has been with the past two Xperia Z iterations. There is also talk about the Sony Xperia Z2 tablet going on. It might be called the Sony Castor Tablet.
Nokia – Nokia X (Normandy), Nokia Lumia 930
Nokia and Android might just be made for each other. Talk about Nokia and Android together has been on for ages – but finally, it is actually taking a concise shape. The Nokia Normandy also known as Nokia X might not be some expensive flagship device, but an affordable device. It has surfaced in images and seems like an ideal marriage of both brands, with Live Tiles in tow. The specs are ordinary, but it is set to come with Android 4.4.2.
Not just that, the international version of the bedazzling Nokia Lumia Icon might be the one to lookout for, when Nokia delivers the Keynote address on Monday. It might surface as the Nokia Lumia 930.
LG – G Pro 2
LG kind of ruined the anticipation by announcing the LG G Pro 2 last week. It has amazing specs such as a 5.9-inch full HD display, Snapdragon 800 and Android 4.4 – KitKat OS, but this will be the first time the device will be showcased. Another rumored handset is the LG G3.
But not just that, LG has announced that the LG G2 Mini would be showcased at the MWC. The specs are already out. And like its name, it seems a scaled-down version of the LG G2 smartphone.
NSA Proof Blackphone
The world’s most private and secure phone in the world might be showcased at the MWC. The phone has been designed to be NSA-style spying proof and uses a PrivatOS instead of Stock Android. Other details will only be unveiled at the event in a few days. Rest assured, Blackphone might be the smartphone James Bond would have wanted.
Huawei – Huawei Ascend P7, Huawei Ascend G6, Huawei Tabs and smartwatch
The successor to the Huawei Ascend P6 will also be showcased at the MWC. Specs of the Huawei Ascend P7 have already been leaked and they are marginally exciting. The Huawei Ascend G7 seems like smaller, more affordable version of the same phone.
Besides this, Huawei might unveil a smartwatch and a couple of tabs although concise information on the same is not yet available.
Besides all these devices, Cisco is set to show out the next innovations in mobile internet including Wi-Fi Hotspot 2.0, Open Network Environment and demo mobile solution such as Quantum Self-Optimising Network, Quantum Policy Suite, Quantum WAN, and Quantum Virtualised Packet Core.
