Google released Android 7.0 Nougat on 22nd of last month. While it’s a known fact that the Nexus and Android One devices are the first ones to receive the latest updates from Google, it will take some time for other OEMs to roll out the Nougat update for their devices. Some may not even be able to do so till the beginning of 2017. However, having said that, Sony and HTC have already confirmed the devices which will receive the Nougat update along with the time frame, and, Motorola too has joined the club now.
When reached out by Droid Life, a Motorola spokesperson said that we can “expect to see Android N on the Moto Z family and Moto G4 beginning in Q4.” This means the Motorola devices which will be receiving the Android 7.0 Nougat update first are Moto Z, Moto Z Force, Moto Z Play, Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus.
While there’s no exact time frame as to when the update will be rolled out, we can expect to see Motorola beginning the roll out some time in October as that’s first month in Q4 of 2016. Talking about the update for other devices, Motorola said that they will share more details later.
