After several leaks and teasers, Lenovo has now launched the new Moto flagship – the Moto Z, which is the successor to the Moto X.
Lenovo-owned Motorola has announced the launch of the Moto Z, which is the company’s new flagship range boasting of modular accessories called Moto Mods. The device has a 5.2 mm thin full metal body which is said to be water-repellent. There is a fingerprint scanner embedded in the square Home button and USB Type-C port for headphones and charging.
The Moto Z has a 5.5 inch AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass protection and super high resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. The smartphone is powered by the 2.2 GHz quad core Snapdragon 820 processor with 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage.
The Moto Z has a 13 MP rear facing laser auto focus camera with 1.12um pixel, f/1.8 aperture, OIS and dual-tone LED flash. There is also a front facing 5 MP camera. The device runs on the Android Marshmallow version with a 2600 mAh battery with Turbo charging.
The Moto Z boasts of the Moto Mods modular accessories which can be attached to the 12 ‘magical-pins’ located at the bottom back of the smartphone. The accessories include Moto Insta-Share Projector, JBL SoundBoost, Moto Shells, and instant Power Pack.
The Moto Insta-Share Projector can turn the phone into a 70 inch projector. The JBL SoundBoost and Power Pack can boost audio and increase up to 22 hours of battery respectively. The swappable Moto Style Shells use premium materials like real wood, leather or patterned fabric.
