While the Google Play Edition of the affordable Moto G has been launched today, the Moto G is expected to be released in India in the last week of January.
While the Moto G smartphone, which was announced in November last year, was expected to be launched in India in the beginning of January, Motorola officials have revealed that the device would be unveiled in India in the last week of January. Although the pricing of the handset has not been revealed, the company claimed that it would be priced competitively.
The Moto G is an affordable smartphone with a 4.5 inch display. The phone is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad core processor and is priced at just $179 in the US. However, it is unlikely that it would be priced so low in India. Meanwhile, the device is said to compete with smartphone from the Indian manufacturers like Micromax and XOLO.
Speaking about the launch in India, William Moss, director of corporate communication at Motorola Mobility, said, “I don’t want to take for granted the strength of our brand in India right now. Moto G is going to be the first phone we will introduce in India in a while. We will have to reintroduce ourselves to consumers in India. The good news is that after a brief break we are ready to begin reasserting ourselves in the markets we have a history of being in.”
