Today we are shifting from personal computers to mobile devices including smartphones and tablets. Well according to statistics, mobile devices now accounts for 10% of all Internet usage worldwide.
This comes after a huge rise in the usage of smartphones and tablets around the globe in the past months. Web access from mobile devices has increased more than double since the year 2010 which had only 3.81% of the total internet access.
The biggest contribution has been from Asia where about 18% of total net usage comes from mobile device. There has also been an increase in mobile based internet surfing Europe and Africa.
The research has been carried out by Pingdom, which tracks the uptime, downtime, and performance of websites, and goes on to say that countries including India, where PCs are still not in the affordable range, consumers resort to smartphones and affordable tablets to access the internet.
With this rate, we can expect mobile internet access to grow drastically in the coming years. What do you think?
