While the Microsoft Windows Phone powered devices seem to falling in numbers, the company still feels it can turn the situation around by directly contributing to the smartphone market.
In a major overhaul to its whole organization structure, Microsoft described its vision of one family of devices where it hinted that it might consider entering the smartphone domain in near future. According to the company, its future ‘family’ will consist of “both partner and first-party devices” which would not only include just tablets and PC’s but smartphones as well.
While Microsoft hasn’t clearly mentioned about the first-party phones, it is not hard to imagine the company entering that domain considering the market potential. It is interesting to note the reaction this move, if real, would create for its faithful partner Nokia. Nokia had also earlier raised concerns about Microsoft’s intention to enter the smartphone industry.
