The Micromax Yu Yureka has been unveiled and is pitched as a new offering from the brand. This is a first from Micromax – the brand has adopted a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor and a CyanogenMod OS. The handset is priced great at just Rs. 8,999 which gives you something to aspire for – a 5.5-inch 720p display, 2GB RAM and most importantly a tweaked CyanogenMod OS, that is designed to attract geeks to the handset. The specs are almost the same as the Xiami Redmi Note, except for the battery and with both the Redmi Note and the OnePlus One in a legal tangle, Micromax might benefit from the void in the market.
Micromax YU YUREKA specs:
- 5.5 inch display
- 1280 x 720 pixels resolution
- 1.5 GHz octa core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor
- 2 GB RAM
- 16 GB internal memory
- 13 MP primary camera
- 5 MP front facing camera
- CyanogenMod OS 11
- 2500 mAh battery
Check out our hands-on images and little snippets of our opinions on the handset from the short time we had with it.
For the price tag, the handset feels great. I have to put in a word for back, for which Micromax has used specially a designed surface, to give it a velvet-like feel. The OS tweaks feel good too, on the top of the freedom that CyanogenMod offers. At its price the handset has a lot on offer.
The CyanogenMod OS is great, and offers many great tweaks that run-of-the-mill Micromax Android phones don’t.
Micromax is offering a leather cover free to consumers in its first sale.
The camera too functioned well, as far as our limited use was concerned. We will find more about what the handset offers in our full review of the phone.
