Microsoft has just announced the latest update to Windows Phone dubbed Windows Phone 8.1 and it is great. Along with that, Microsoft has also announced a couple of new hardware partners – Micromax and Prestigio.
While Prestigio is not a popular name here in India, it is quite popular in its home country, Cyprus. Micromax is very popular here in India. In fact, Micromax is the second largest smartphone maker in India, so it should bode well for the Windows Phone platform.
Joe Belfiore, the Windows Phone head showed off the Windows Phone devices made by Micromax and Prestigo but he did not reveal any more details. We expect to know more soon and as always we’ll let you know.
Microsoft announced new Windows Phone partners at MWC and today, we have come to know more. We also recently heard that Microsoft might be offering Windows Phone for free to some OEMs in India and that might be a reason the likes of Micromax and Karbonn have come on board. Anyways, we are happy to know that there will be diversity from the usual Nokia Windows Phone devices. What do you think? Will you buy a Micromax Windows Phone smartphone?
