While the international manufacturers are just getting ready to push the recently released Android v4.4 KitKat to their flagship devices, Indian manufacturer Micromax has plans to upgrade as many as 11 smartphones to Android 4.4.
According to sources, as many as eleven Micromax Canvas smartphones would get the Android v4.4 KitKat update in 2014. Interestingly, none of these smartphones have received the Android v4.3 update and would be directly upgraded to Android v4.4. Not just that, but three of the older smartphones would also be upgraded to Android v4.1 Jelly Bean. However the timeline of the update is not specified.
As the Android v4.4 is said to support smartphones with low end hardware and memory, Micromax has apparently included a few handsets with low end configurations. However as of now there is no low end smartphone to support that and we do not know how that would work out for Micromax. Nonetheless, it is amazing to see that our local manufacturer would start pushing the Android v4.4 updates in line with the international manufacturers.
