While Micromax has been a major partner for the Google Android One project which offers vanilla Android experience, the company is apparently in talks with Cyanogen Inc.
According to sources, Micromax is pursuing talks with Cyanogen Inc. to launch a new smartphone powered by CyanogenMod for the Indian market. While we have no details about the smartphone, sources claim that the handset might be released by the end of this year. Further, the smartphone is said to be a mid-range smartphone but with an aggressive price point.
While CyanogenMod is already the most popular ROM used in India to get rid of vendor infused bloat ware, a tie-up with Micromax could make it even more popular in the country. Meanwhile, Google has been apparently trying hard to acquire Cyanogen Inc. but was turned down for obvious reasons.
