While smartphone vendors have started adopting the octa-core processor to provide ‘faster’ smartphones, MediaTek has now launched the MediaTek Helio X20 SoC with 10 cores.
MediaTek has announced the launch of the MediaTek Helio X20 SoC, which is the world’s first processor with 10 cores and a tri-cluster CPU design. The processor has 4 power efficient Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.4 GHz, another 4 Cortex A53 cores clocked at a higher 2.0 GHz and two Cortex A72 performance cores clocked in at 2.5 GHz.
The MediaTek Helio X20 SoC is supported by the Mali T800 series GPU with 2 x LPDDR3 Memory running at 933MHz. We can expect to see the chipset in smartphones by the end of this year. Meanwhile Qualcomm is also reported to be working on a similar processor, likely said to be the Snapdragon 818.
