Microsoft detailed the next major update to its mobile platform dubbed Windows Phone 8.1 at its annual Build Conference in April. It’s only now that the update is finally seeding to existing Windows Phone 8 devices.
For the Nokia devices, the new Windows Phone 8.1 update is part of the Lumia Cyan package. The Lumia Cyan update is now rolling out to Windows Phone 8 devices worldwide.
The Lumia Cyan update incorporates the Windows Phone 8.1 update, which brings the Action Center, Cortana (for US), new Start Screen backgrounds, Word Flow keyboard, new Device Search, Internet Explorer 11, WiFi Sense, Battery Sense and a whole lot more. Then there’s the Nokia (Microsoft Mobile) updates to the Nokia Camera, Creative Studio, Storyteller and other apps along with a new Nokia Device hub.
The rollout has already started with the high end devices like the Lumia 1520 and the Lumia Icon (in the US) getting it first. All the Windows Phone 8 Lumias will be getting the update gradually, so you’ll have to be just a bit patient.
The update is currently available for Lumia 925 and 625 users, so people who own these devices should better get downloading. You can check the availability of your device based on your country by hitting the source link below.
