While the first edition of the LG Pocket Photo printer, which was priced at Rs. 14990 in India, received a lukewarm response, the company has already announced the second iteration of the device.
The LG Pocket Photo 2 is the successor to the company’s mobile printer. The new device is thinner and lighter than the earlier version and has a longer battery life. The printer is said to be capable of printing up to 30 images on one full charge. The printer is compatible with Android, iOS and Windows 8 smartphones. The Pocket Photo app on Android also lets you edit the pictures before printing.
The LG Pocket Photo 2 prints the images at 600 DPI and doesn’t require ink cartridges as it uses the Zink printing technology which utilises heat to activate the necessary colour-forming chemistry imbedded in each sheet of paper. The printer is connected to the smartphone using NFC or Bluetooth. The printer is expected to be unveiled at CES 2014.
