Capturing the fast increasing smartphone market in India, LG has announced the launch of its flagship device in the country today.
The LG Optimus G Pro has 5.5 inch Full HD IPS display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The device is the first to be powered by a 1.7 GHz quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor along with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage.
The LG Optimus G Pro Is equipped with two cameras – a rear facing 13 MP camera with the VR Panorama feature which allows 360 degree viewing, from taking pictures of both horizontal and vertical environment. Besides there is also a 2.1 MP full HD front camera. The cameras offer a Dual Recording feature that captures video with both the front and rear cameras simultaneously.
The LG Optimus G Pro runs on the Android Jelly bean OS with a layer of Optimus 3.0 UI on top of it. The device packs in an enormous 3140 mAh battery. The device will be available across retails stores in India priced at Rs. 42500.
Speaking at the launch, Mr. Soon Kwon, Managing Director, LG India said, “Smartphone market in India is growing rapidly and there is a huge demand for big screen size mobile phones. The market size for 5 inch and above screens is expected to be 1.5 million units by end of 2013. Based on this insight, with Optimus G Pro we have pushed the boundaries of computing and technological innovation to develop a smartphone that caters to both business and lifestyle needs of today’s customers. With this launch we are gearing towards our aim of capturing 10% market share of the smartphone category by end of 2014.”
