As we expected, LG has just launched the G3 flagship in India at an event today in Mumbai. The LG G3 was unveiled globally at the end of May and it’s only now that the beastly device has reached Indian shores.
The LG G3 is the first device from a popular manufacturer to incorporate a Quad HD display, so as expected, the buzz around the device is about that but there’re are lot of cool other features as well. The LG G3 features a pretty cool design. The device features a polycarbonate body with a matte metal finish on top, which gives it a metal look and it’s grippy as well. The device measures 146.3 x 74.6 x 8.9 mm and weighs 150 grams. LG has managed to device pretty compact, when compared to other smartphones with a 5.5-inch display. LG has managed to do that by keeping the bezels as narrow as they can and that gives the LG G3 a screen ratio of 76.4% and stunning looks.
The LG flagship features a 5.5-inch QHD (2560x1440p) IPS LCD display, the pixel density coming in at 538 ppi. The device is powered by a 2.5 GHz Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with Adreno 330 GPU. There’s 2 GB RAM with the 16 GB storage version whereas 3 GB RAM with the 32 GB version. The device comes with microSD expansion up to 128 GB.
The camera is another highlight of the LG G3. There’s a 13 MP OIS+ camera on the rear with an LED flash. Also present is the laser AF sensor, which speeds up autofocus by measuring the distance of an object from the camera. That’s not all, as there’s also phase detection autofocus, which brings ultra fast 276 ms focusing. On the front, there’s a 2.1 MP front facing camera with larger image sensor and larger aperture to capture more light.
LG has equipped the flagship with a a built-in 1W speaker with Boost AM. The device comes with Android 4.4.2 KitKat on board along with LG’s latest overhauled UI, which is a lot more flatter but not any less in features. There’s a new Smart Keyboard with text prediction and the keyboard can be resized as well. According to LG, it reduces errors by 75%. Along with that, there’s Smart Notice, Smart Security and more.
A 3000 mAh battery runs the show on the LG G3 and while we are skeptic about its performance, considering the Quad HD display, LG says it has been well optimised. The connectivity is well covered, as you would expect from a flagship. There’s 4G LTE, HSPA+ 21 Mbps (3G), Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth Smart Ready (Apt-X), NFC, SlimPort, A-GPS/Glonass and USB 2.0.
The LG G3 will be available in cool colors including Metallic Black, Silk White and Shine Gold. The device will also come in a special Big B Collector’s Edition, which will have an LG G3 signed by the Indian megastar, Amitabh Bachchan although this edition will see a limited 15,000 units release.
