After lots of rumors, leaks and speculations, LG has made the G Pro 2 official in its home country, South Korea. The LG G Pro 2 is the successor to the last year’s Optimus G Pro. There were rumors that the device would be unveiled on 13th February and those reports have turned out to be spot on.
As we had expected, the LG G Pro 2 features the rear buttons design language, which was first introduced by the LG G2. The front also has minimal bezels and on-screen buttons similar to the LG G2 and unlike its predecessor. The phablet measures in at 157.9×81.9×8.3 mm and weighs 172 grams. The device will come in three colors: Titan, White and Black.
The G Pro 2 features a larger 5.9-inch Full HD (1920×1080) IPS display and is powered by the industry beloved Snapdragon 800 chipset clocked at 2.26 GHz with 3 gigs of RAM for your multitasking needs. There is a 16 GB or 32 GB option along with microSD expansion.
On the camera front, as it was previously rumored, there’s a 13 MP primary camera with an LED flash. The camera unit comes with enhanced optical image stabilization (OIS+) and there is a feature straight from Nokia’s Refocus where you can change the focus after the image is captured. There’s 4K UHD video capturing ability along with 1080p@120fps. The front facing camera comes in at 2.1 MP.
Connectivity is well covered with LTE-A capabilities along with Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, SlimPort, and microUSB. The phablet will come with Android 4.4 KitKat on-board along with LG’s Emotional UX. There’s a new Knock Code feature, building on the Knock On feature first introduced with the LG G2. This feature lets you lock and unlock your device using a specific knocking combination. The whole thing is powered by a removable 3200 mAh battery.
LG has not announced international availability but we are sure we’ll know about that at MWC for sure. With the LG G Pro 2 getting official, we can expect only one more device from LG at the MWC, that is the G2 Mini which LG teased yesterday.
