While most of the handset makers have started pushing the Android KitKat updates for their high-end devices, Lenovo also plans on doing the same for its devices.
Lenovo has announced that it is set to rollout the Android KitKat v4.4 update to six of its smartphones in India. The company, which has already released the updates for its high-end smartphones, will now push the updates to the mid-range offerings which include 930, S650, S820, S920, S660 and P780.
The Android KitKat update for the Lenovo devices in India is expected to commence later this week and will be pushed in a phased manner and is expected to be completed by early September. With the update, the handsets will get the latest UI which is seen on the company’s Vibe range of smartphones. Also expected are other minor security enhancements and bug fixes.
Speaking about the move, Sudhin Mathur, Director- Smartphone, Lenovo India, said, “After rolling out updates for Vibe Z, Vibe X and S860 last month, we are now bringing Android 4.4 to six of our mid-range smartphones at various price points. These updates are poised to take the user experience of these phone to a different level. In the last two years in India, we have grown leaps and bounds launching over 18 smartphones, each addressing specific user requirement, and we aim to continue this growth trajectory with newer models and iterations.”
