Design
The Le Max features full-metal unibody design which feels premium. It weighs 204 grams and is 8.95 mm thin. The size of the phone might be uncomfortable for some for one handed usage.
The Le Max boasts off a huge 6.33-inch 2K (2560 x 1440 pixels) LCD display. The display is good and images also look good from different viewing angles. I personally think that the display is too big and not very comfortable to hold with one hand, but, if you are okay using both your hands to hold it and want a device for media consumption as well, then this big display is the one for you.
Above the display is the 4 MP secondary camera with which you can take selfies. Besides the camera is the speaker along with ambient sensor and proximity sensor.
Below the display are the capacitive navigation buttons which are back-lit. The back-lit navigation buttons actually become useful but they aren’t back-lit at all the times but rather light up when you touch them.
The back of the Le Max houses a 21 MP primary camera with Dual LED flash. There’s also a mic above the camera which becomes useful when you are shooting a video. The Le Max packs in a 3400 mAh Li-Poly non-removable battery.
The phone (phablet to be precise) is pretty slim which compensates the big display size. The left side of the device houses volume rocker as well as a slider which quickly lets you mute the device.
On the right side of the Le Max is the power button sitting along with the SIM card slot. The Le Max supports Dual SIM, one micro and one nano.
At the top is the 3.5 mm audio jack along with an IR Blaster. The IR Blaster becomes useful when you want to use your Le Max as a remote control for a TV.
The bottom of the Le Max houses two grills out of which only the one at the right side has speakers inside it, the one on the left side has mic in it. The device also comes with USB Type-C port so that you don’t have to bother yourself by seeing which side is up. Plug it anyway you want, useful especially when you are in a hurry.
Fingerprint Scanner
If you have big hands then you won’t face any problem in reaching the fingerprint scanner placed at the back of the phone below the primary camera. The fingerprint scanner is fast and can be used to capture photos as well. In order to be able to unlock the Le Max with your fingerprint, you need to go to Settings > Fingerprints > Unlock with Fingerprint and add a fingerprint.
More and more apps coming up with support for Fingerprint Scanners will make the Fingerprint Scanners more useful than they already are adding an extra level of security to the apps as well, especially apps from which you carry out monetary transactions.
Software
The Le Max runs on EUI 5.0 out of the box which is based on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop.
The UI is minimalist and doesn’t have any app drawer, rather, all your apps can be found on the home screen after installation. I personally don’t prefer the UI like the one found on this device and like the ones which come with an app drawer, but again, that’s a question of personal preference and the looks of the UI can always be changed with the help of a plethora of launchers available on the Play Store.
All we conclude from our LeEco Le Max first impressions is that this is a good device and performed well, handled everything that we threw at it with ease. The only downer would be the screen size, which again, is a question of personal preference. The Le Max is priced at Rs. 32,999 and can be bought from Flipkart. We will be publishing our review of the LeEco Le Max soon. If you have any queries regarding the Le Max, post them in the comments below or ask us on social media. Stay tuned !
