The iPhone 4 has become the fastest selling portable gaming system in history and has its written down in the Guinness Book of World Records 2011 Gamer Edition.
Apple sold 1.5 million devices just on the first days after the official iPhone 4 release and to compare, the PSP shifted 200,000 units on its launch date in 2005, and the Nintendo DS took a week to move 500,000 consoles in November 2004.
The iOS App Store also reached heights by receiving the Guinness Record for being the most popular application marketplace. The App Store made three records on the list:
- “Most popular application marketplace” with 6.5 billion downloads since launch
- “The largest downloadable video game store” with a staggering with 37,362 games as of September 2010 (according to the statement)
- “The largest launch line-up of any gaming system” at 145 games out of the 500 apps at launch
