With the increasing usage of computers and tablets for learning purposes in schools, Intel has unveiled its first Education Tablet.
The Intel Education Tablet is a reference design developed by Intel as part of the Intel Education Solutions, which provides technology and tools for teachers and students to manage e-Learning classrooms. Based on this reference model, other vendors are expected to launch their own tablet with the Intel Education Software that includes tools for 21st century learning, communication, collaboration, problem solving, critical thinking and literary skills.
The Intel Education Tablet is a very tough device able to withstand a drop of up to 70 cms. It also has dust and water proof resistance. The tablet has a 10.1 inch display. It is powered by a 1.2 GHz dual core Intel Atom processor along with 1 GB of RAM and option of 8/16/32 GB of internal storage. The tablet, running on Android Jelly Bean, has Wi-Fi connectivity with optional 3G support.
The Intel Education Tablet also has an active stylus for comfortable usage. Other than that, there is also a Snap-on magnification lens and a plug-in thermal sensor probe, which can be used to take temperature reading by plugging into the audio jack. The device is said to have a long lasting 12 hour battery.
