It was predicted that India in 2017 would be the third largest smartphone market in the world, but the economic state of the country has managed to achieve the feat in 2013 itself.
According to reports from Strategy Analytics, India has surpassed Japan in the first quarter to become the third largest smartphone market in the world, thus drawing even more attention to it from the smartphone giants. Surprisingly, the smartphone market in India has grown by 163 percent since last year.
The rank has been achieved because of the presence of Android powered smartphones which have attracted a lot of customers. The subsidies provided by Apple and the low cost Lumia devices from Nokia have also helped increase the market share. India is now at number three after US and China.
