With the end of the spectrum auction, where the government earned a whopping Rs. 61162 crores, the telecom operators are getting ready to roll out next-gen services in the country.
Idea Cellular, which won 11 circle at the spectrum auction, has announced that it would launch 4G services in 8 of its circles which it has recently acquired. The circles include Kerala, Maharashtra & Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh, Punjab, Haryana, and North East where is has won spectrum in the 1800 MHz band.
Idea Cellular is expected to use the FDD-LTE technology, which is being used by Videocon, to roll out 4G network in its circles and would simultaneously provide GSM, 3G and 4G services. Winner of the spectrum auction, Vodafone, is also expected to deploy 4G network but in circles limited to Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Karnataka and Kerala.
