Just a day after Vodafone stealthily doubled their mobile data rates, Idea Cellular has joined in and also hiked their data rates.
Idea Cellular has hiked the data charges for pay-as-you-go usage plans for both its prepaid and post-paid customers. The new rates, which are applicable in most of the 22 circles, are 4 paise per 10 KB instead of the earlier 2 paise per 10 KB. Just like Vodafone, the new rates are applicable to both – 2G and 3G data services.
Now that Vodafone and Idea have doubled the mobile data charges, we can expect other operators to follow suit. This move comes as a major surprise, considering that both had slashed their rates from 2 paise per KB to 2 paise per 10 KB. Further, the operators have been recently seen hiking call charges as well. Will this really effect the customers or do the customers have no other choice?
