While Idea has been constantly focussing on improving its services, the operator has now acquired spectrum from Videocon.
Idea Cellular has announced that it has signed an agreement with Videocon for acquiring right to use spectrum in the telecom service areas of Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh (West). The operator would receive two 5 MHz contiguous blocks of 1800 MHz in each area, which it plans on using for the deployment of 4G LTE services in the circles.
The agreement for the right to use spectrum is aggregated at Rs. 3310 crores, subject to pending adjustments. Idea would also be taking over the outstanding ‘Deferred Payment Liability’ of Videocon payable to DoT. The operator is confident of launching its 4G LTE services in 750 towns across existing 10 4G circles by first half of 2016.
