Google released the Android 7.0 Nougat update last August. While the Google Pixel and Nexus devices were the ones which got the update before other devices did, smartphone manufacturers are now slowly rolling out the Nougat update to their devices. The latest device to join the group is the Huawei P9. Huawei has announced that it will roll out the Android 7.0 Nougat update this month for the P9.
This announcement was made by Huawei India on Twitter who tweeted “User experience will be made smoother with the #EMUI 5.0 is expected to roll-out, globally in Q1 2017“. Just because the announcement was made by Huawei India doesn’t mean that the update will only be rolled out for the P9 units in India. This Android 7.0 Nougat based EMUI 5.0 update will be rolled out to the P9 units globally.
Even though Huawei has said that the update rolls out this month, the company hasn’t revealed any specific date of the roll out. The Huawei P9 was launched with EMUI 4.1 which is based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow, however, this new update will bring in features like multi-window support, improved Doze, direct reply and much more.
Huawei also unveiled the P10 and P10 Plus earlier this week at Barcelona which run EMUI 5.1 out of the box based on Android 7.0 Nougat. For now, there’s no information when the EMUI 5.1 update will be rolled out to the P9, but, in the meantime, you can enjoy EMUI 5 once it reaches your P9.
