As we are nearing the official availability of the Windows Phone 8 OS, a new smartphone has leaked out and this time it is from Huawei who is also the official hardware partner with Microsoft.
The smartphone which leaked, namely the Huawei Ascend W1 is said to be a mid-range smartphone going by the leaked specifications that has appeared along with the pictures.
The Ascend W1 which has leaked appears in the colour Cyan which is also the colour by which Nokia’s Lumia smartphone are better known as and this also indicates that the smartphone will arrive in numerous colour options like Nokia Lumia 920 and 820 and Windows Phone 8X and 8S from HTC.
Going by the specifications the Ascend W1 is said to arrive with:
- 3-inch WVGA screen
- 1.2 GHz dual-core processor
- 512 MB RAM
- 400 MHz GPU
- 4 GB of internal storage
- 5 MP camera on the rear
- VGA front facing camera
- Windows Phone 8 OS
- 2000 mAh battery
It is interesting to see that the microUSB port on the Ascend W1 is not centred as we have seen it on other Windows Phone 8 devices which points out that Microsoft is not asking OEMs to centre the USB port as per standardization. Or this could also mean that the device is an early prototype and we could see the change in the final release.
No more details on the Ascend W1 are available but as we near the launch we should see more leaks of the smartphone.
