We knew that Chinese manufacturer Huawei, was planning to launch the Huawei Ascend Mate, Huawei Ascend D2 and the Ascend W1 at the CES 2013 but yesterday, the company only unveiled the Android running Mate and D2 smartphones.
But today, Huawei has finally announced the launch of the Ascend W1 smartphone running on Microsoft’s newest Windows Phone 8 OS.
The Ascend W1 does not pack in some high-end specs to challenge the offerings of Nokia, HTC and Samsung but arrives with some decent specifications which include:
- 4-inch IPS-LCD capacitive display
- Display resolution of 800 x 480 pixels
- 1.2 GHz dual core Snapdragon S4 processor
- 512 MB RAM
- Adreno 305 GPU
- 4 GB Internal memory
- Expandable via microSD slot up to 32 GB
- 5 MP camera with LED Flash
- VGA front facing camera
- 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1
- 1,950 mAh battery
Huawei plans to offer the Ascend W1 smartphone in Black, White, Red and Blue chassis choices. The Huawei Ascend W1 is expected to be available in China and Russia from January 2013, with Western Europe, Middle East, USA and other selected countries to follow. The company has not yet shared any details on the pricing of the smartphone.
