Recent rumours suggested that HTC might be partnering with Google to make the Nexus smartphones this year. This was then fueled by reports suggesting that HTC would make not just one but two Nexus smartphones this year. The latest report now suggests that HTC might make the Nexus smartphones for the next three years.
According to sources, HTC has reportedly signed a three year contract with Alphabet – the parent company of Google, to make the Nexus smartphones for a period of three years. The partnership will come into effect starting 2016, which means that the Nexus smartphones for the next two years would be HTC as well.
As of now the nature of the partnership between HTC and Alphabet is not yet known. It is also not known whether the agreement is limited to Nexus smartphones only or wold be extended to tablet devices as well. This news comes as no surprise after LG, which was a long time Nexus partner, decided to back off from the Nexus program to focus on its own brand.
