Yesterday we posted that HTC was found guilty in court for infringing 2 of Apple’s patents. Now HTC has replied back saying that it has a strong case and that it would vigorously fight the infringement ruling.
Accused of infringing patents related to software architecture and user interfaces, and hardware for touch screens and movement sensors, HTC has denied the accusations and said that it is disappointed that Apple has resorted to the court instead of market to fight competition. HTC general counsel said, “HTC is dismayed that Apple has resorted to competition in the courts rather than the marketplace. HTC continues to vehemently deny all of Apple’s past and present claims against it and will continue to protect and defend its own intellectual property as it has already done this year.”
The accusation has led to a 4% drop of HTC’s shares and the final verdict made it 6.5%. Whatever the ruling may be, HTC will surely have to pay Apple a lump sum to stay in the market.
