While the new HTC Sense 6.0 UI seems to have a lot of features, for the hard-core Android users who prefer the simple Android experience, HTC has launched the Google Play Edition of the recently announced HTC One (M8).
HTC had launched the Google Play Edition of the last year’s flagship a few weeks after its launch. So it was expected that the Google Play Edition of the just announced HTC One (M8) would be launched eventually. But the company just surprised us by announcing it almost immediately. The device would be priced at $699 and would be available on the Google Play Store for pre-order from today.
The HTC One (M8) Google Play Edition would run on pure Android v4.4.2 KitKat and would come without the layer of the Sense UI. This would mean that you will not able to access the features added by the Sense UI. However, using the HTC API’s you can still access the major features like the Duo camera.
Besides the Google Play Edition, HTC also announced the Developer Edition of the HTC One (M8). This handset would have the Sense 6.0 UI but will come with an unlocked boot loader. This implies that you could virtually install any available ROM on the device. This handset will be available for pre-order on the HTC website from today for $650.
