We recently came across fresh reports on HTC’s W8 Windows Phone device, that will be a One M8 but with Windows Phone on-board and it’s also said to be coming with ‘One M8 for Windows’ moniker. HTC has announced a press event scheduled for August 19 in New York City and we are expecting the One M8 for Windows (Phone) to make an appearance there.
Previous reports had suggested an August 21 launch of the device on Verizon and that might indeed turn out to be true. The phone should be unveiled at the August 19 event and go on sale starting August 21. You can also expect the unlocked price to be around $610 and $199 on-contract.
The One M8 for Windows should be the same One M8 we love, when it comes to the hardware. There should be the 5-inch 1080p display, Snapdragon 801 with Adreno 330 GPU, 2 GB RAM, 32 GB storage with expansion, Duo UltraPixel camera and a 2600 mAh battery. The device should come with the latest Windows Phone 8.1 update 1 on-board, which brings support for interactive cases like the Dot View case for the One M8.
The One M8 for Windows should be a great option for people who high-end Windows Phone devices on hardware other than Nokia. Hopefully, the device makes it to the global market too and that too soon.
