Step 1: This tutorial is for those who have installed WhatsApp on their Android and want to stop media from auto downloading on WhatsApp, but, if you haven’t and want to download WhatsApp on your Android, you can download it from the Google Play Store. As soon as you open WhatsApp, go to ‘Settings‘ and then tap on ‘Chats and calls‘.
Step 2: After going into the ‘Chats and calls’ settings, tap on the ‘Media auto-download‘ option and then select if you want the media to be auto-downloaded on Mobile Data or on Wi-Fi or while roaming.
Step 3: To configure auto-download settings for Mobile Data, tap on ‘When using mobile data‘ and then un-check the boxes against the media type that you don’t want to get automatically downloaded.
Tap on ‘When connected on Wi-Fi‘ to configure the auto-download settings for Wi-Fi and then un-check the boxes against the media type that you don’t want to get automatically downloaded.
Tap on ‘When roaming‘ to configure auto-download settings for roaming and then un-check the boxes against the media type that you don’t want to get automatically downloaded.
Do keep in mind that you don’t have an option to select whether or not you can download the voice messages automatically as they are always automatically downloaded.
