Honor’s flagship lineup always seem to perform great at their cameras, and when it comes to the camera performance, Honor devices doesn’t compromise at all. Honor 8, the premium looking smartphone has now dual 12 MP cameras. According to the camera specifications, the performance of the camera on Honor 8 would be much similar to or at par with Leica camera on HUAWEI P9. How well does the camera snap the images? Let’s have a look at the Honor 8 camera samples below.

The main highlight of Honor 8 is the camera followed by its 2.5D glass design. Honor 8 uses a similar dual (12 MP + 12MP) f/2.2 camera with laser autofocus. Not bragging a Leica brand, its camera specifications appears to be very similar to HUAWEI P9.
Further, there’s a dual-tone LED flash. Besides, Honor 8 camera is left behind in two areas, the ability to record up to 1080p videos and no OIS support on the camera. I believe it’s due to the slim design and no camera bump on the surface. Good thing, Honor made a flat camera exterior utilizing the least space for the camera.
Another thing in this regard is that as the camera is dual 12 MP which also sounds like it’s the same module used from HUAWEI P9 camera but not being a Leica branded, there seems to be missing Monochrome feature which could be the signature feature of P9, while the extended Depth of Field is supported. With this feature, you can refocus on objects applying intense blur effects on the background.
Honor’s camera interface offers various options including Depth of Field, Beauty, Pro photo, Pro video, Beauty video, Good food, Panorama, Night shot, Light painting, Time-lapse, Slo-mo, and many others. Enough talk, let’s move on to the camera samples.

Check out the Honor 8 camera samples taken from its 12 MP dual camera.
The image quality seems at par with HUAWEI P9 but you will miss the Monochrome feature. The colors and details are excellent, one camera captures accurate colors while the other captures black and white with details.
The Pro mode lets you take control of the advanced features of the camera and let your inner camera enthusiast wake up. Things like shutter speed, ISO, manual focus, exposure levels and other stuff can be tweaked.
Best in all, the camera captures great images even better than OnePlus 3, which can be its nearest competitors when it comes to price and the camera picture quality, to some extent. I would recommend Honor 8 if you love photography, and elegance is your choice.
