Back in January this year, Huawei sub-brand Honor announced that it would soon roll-out the Android 8.0 Oreo update to Honor 8 Pro, Honor 8 Lite, Honor 9i, and, Honor 7X. And, later on in February, the company even started rolling out the Oreo update to Honor 8 Pro and Honor 9. And now, more than a month later, Honor is rolling out the Oreo update for Honor 7X as well.
The Honor 7X was announced last year in October and it ran Android 7.0 Nougat based EMUI 5.1 out of the box. However, the Oreo based EMUI 8.0 update that Honor is rolling out currently isn’t for all the users. Rather, it’s only rolled out to those who participated in Honor FUT (Friendly User Test) – Honor’s beta program of sorts.
If you are a beta user, you should receive the Oreo based EMUI 8.0 update on your Honor 7X by the end of this week. Moreover, you can also check for the update manually by heading over to Settings > System > System Update menu.
This update brings in features like Picture-in-Picture Mode, Notification Snoozing, Autofill Framework, and more to Honor 7X. Moreover, it also comes along with EMUI 8.0 features like smarter notifications and floating navigation dock. Besides, the Oreo update also brings in Project Treble support to the device which is impressive.
Like we already said, this update is currently only rolling out to the beta users, but, it should roll-out to non-beta users soon if there aren’t too many bugs and issues to iron out.
