Google has been recently pushing its stock Android apps onto the Play store to be accessible to a larger audience. The Google Text-to-Speech is the latest addition to the collection.
The Google Text-to-Speech, which is used to read out text, has been put up on the Google Play store. The engine can now be used on non-stock Android smartphones. Similarly, as the app would be updated directly by Google, the Android devices customized by the manufacturer would also receive the latest features immediately.
The Google Text-to-Speech app for Android requires Android v4.0.3 or higher. To activate the app, go to Settings, then over to Language and Input and choose the Google Text-to-Speech engine as the default. If you do not have the Google Text-to-Speech, download it for your device from the Google Play store.
