Google has launched a document handling app called the Google Docs App for the Android platform. The Docs app also allows uploading of content from the user’s phone and open documents directly from Gmail. Users can also add a widget to their home screen for easy access to three tasks: jumping to their starred documents, taking a photo to upload, or creating a new document with one tap. The app also allows the user to easily share items with contacts on their phone within the app itself.
There is also a feature in which by using the phone’s camera, users can turn photos with text into editable Google documents with optical character recognition (OCR). By just creating a new Document from Photo or selecting the camera icon from the widget, the converted document will appear in the documents list shortly after the user takes a picture.
