After appearing at the Google I/O Developer Conference, the new design for the Gmail app for Android has finally started rolling out to users.
The expected update to Gmail for Android is up on the Google Play Store. The updates are being rolled gradually to users across the world. The update brings a new design with slide-out navigation besides a totally refreshed inbox.
Jelly Bean users after updating the app can reply, archive or delete email from the notifications shade without opening the app. Also the ‘Swipe to refresh’ feature has been enabled in the app. While the ICS users get faster offline search, other users (2.2 and above) will notice improvements to performance besides new Labels API for third party developers.
The updates are being rolled in a staged manner and might take some time to reach you, but if you can’t wait that long, then here is a download link for the new Gmail app.
