While Gionee already hold the record for the world’s thinnest smartphone with the Elife S5.5, the company seems to be planning on breaking its own record.
According to sources, Gionee is now working on a new smartphone which is just 5.0 mm thin, making it the world’s thinnest smartphone as of now. The handset, bearing model number GN9005, was spotted during certification at the TENNA, which is the Chinese equivalent of the FCC. Not only does the phone have a very thin profile but even the side bezels are extremely thin.
The Gionee GN9005 is said to flaunt a 4.8 inch HD display. The smartphone is said to be powered by a 1.2 GHz quad core CPU with 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage. The device is equipped with a rear facing 8 MP camera and a front facing 5 MP camera. The handset runs on the Android v4.3 Jelly Bean along with a 2050 mAh battery.
