Smartphone companies have been focusing more on the front facing cameras lately. They are either shipping their smartphones with dual cameras on the front, or, they increase the MP count of the front camera and pair it with a flash for better selfies. Selfie-centric smartphones like Vivo V5 Plus have already launched in India, however, another selfie-centric smartphone is going to be launched in India next week, and that’s the Gionee A1.
Gionee has started sending the press invites to the media for the launch event of Gionee A1 scheduled on March 21. As you can see from the invite below, Gionee is promoting the A1 more as a selfie-centric camera. Well, it comes with an 16 MP camera on the front after all. The Gionee A1 was unveiled at MWC last month along with the A1 Plus. There’s no information whether Gionee will launch the A1 Plus as well alongside the A1 on March 21.
Coming back to the Gionee A1, it’s powered by MediaTek’s Helio P10 SoC which is laced with 4 GB RAM and Mali-T860 GPU. It sports a 5.5-inch Full-HD display and runs Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. The device comes with 64 GB of internal storage whereas the external storage can be expanded up to 128 GB via microSD card.
Like we earlier said, the Gionee A1 sports a 16 MP camera on the front and comes with a 13 MP snapper at the back. The device supports dual-SIM and 4G LTE, and, keeping this entire package running is a big 4010 mAh battery.
The Gionee A1 is priced at €349 so we expect it to be priced somewhere around the ₹25,000 mark in India. We will know more about the pricing and availability of the Gionee A1 once its launched in India on March 21.
