While the Indian smartphone manufacturers seem to be dominating the local market, Flipkart, which recently created a buzz with its association with Motorola to launch the Moto G in India, is all set to launch its own brand of smartphones.
According to sources in the know claim that FlipKart is in talk with Intel, MediaTek and Qualcomm for quite some time. The successful launch of Moto G handled by FlipKart seems to have convinced the companies. Flipkart has apparently zeroed down on two smartphones, which are expected to be launched in a few months’ time.
Speaking about the plans, the report form Convergence Catalyst report, states, “E-Commerce players have emerged as strong distribution channel for smart devices, especially smartphones, in India. Their no-frills operations, lean supply chain, direct access to consumers and growing brands (of some of the leading players) make them the preferred partners for many smartphone OEMs.”
