Social media giant Facebook launched the Facebook Messenger Lite app back in October 2016. And, it later launched this app in India in July last year. The Facebook Messenger Lite app is created especially for developing markets where data connection is spotty. Well, while the Facebook Messenger Lite does come with some core features of Facebook Messenger, it has now received support for video calling.
Facebook has announced that it has rolled out video calling support for Facebook Messenger Lite. The Facebook Messenger Lite is a lightweight version of Facebook Messenger, and hence, it weighs less than 10 MB in size while also consuming lesser data than the full-fledged Facebook Messenger app.

To start a video call on Facebook Messenger Lite, all you have to do is open an existing conversation with your friend or create a new one, and then tap on the video call button located in the upper-right corner of the screen. It’s that simple. Moreover, you can also switch from ongoing voice call to a video call by tapping on the video call button located at the bottom-right corner of the screen.
“Video chats are incredibly popular for people who use the Messenger core app. In 2017, there were 17 billion video chats in Messenger, twice as many video chats compared to 2016. Now people who use Messenger Lite can have the same rich and expressive face-to-face conversations as those who use the core Messenger app, no matter which technology they use or have access to.” said Facebook in a blog post.
