As Microsoft’s Joe Belfiore promised at a recent Reddit AMA, the Facebook Beta app for Windows Phone has received a major update. The new update brings a new design and new features.
The update bumps up the version of the Facebook Beta to 5.3.0.1 for Windows Phone 8 and 8.3.0.1 for users on Windows Phone 8.1. The new update brings a new design, which looks much more modern than the previous one. On the top right, there’s a search button and a button to open up the list showing people who are online. Below the header, there are five swipeable tabs for News Feed, Friend Requests, Messages, Notifications and more. The bottom bar in the News Feed features three buttons for status, photo and check-in.
Along with the new design, the new update brings video upload support. You can hit the photo button at the bottom bar in the News Feed and then select a video to upload right from your phone. The update also brings improved performance (which seems to be true in our testing) and support for additional languages.
The new design and video upload support should please the Windows Phone users a lot. If you have not installed the Facebook Beta app on your Windows Phone, we suggest you do so now by hitting the link below but as with any Beta, the usual bugs and crashes should be there.
