Ever thought about how the surface of planet Mars looks like? Sounds out of the box, but there is such an app that provides you with images from NASA Opportunity rover which has been on Mars since 2004.
The app also allows you to browse older photos from the rover’s archive and has been developed by computer scientist Mark Powell of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
Apps that take us straight to the planets. Hmm, sound interesting. Surely, people at NASA did not see this coming when the space program was initiated or even when the rover landed on Mars.
The app is free and available for both iPhone/iPad and Android phones and a new version is also on its way that will provide users with the image archive from Opportunity’s twin Spirit rover.
