With the Make in India initiative gaining momentum, Celkon has now opened its manufacturing unit on the Indian soil.
Celkon has announced the launch of its first manufacturing plant in India, which is located at Medchal unit in Hyderabad. The company has reportedly invested Rs. 200 crores in the unit. The plant would start with 4 production lines and eventually will scale up to 12 production lines, with an initial capacity of lakh handsets per month which would go up to 5 lakh handsets per month.
Celkon has set a target to reach a capacity of producing 10 lakh handsets a month in India. Further it also aims at increasing its sales to 10 lakh handsets a month from the current 7 lakh handsets a month. The company is one of the first to start handset production in India. This plant is said to generate employment of 500 skilled technicians, which would then scale up to 1200 people.
