Seeing that Reliance Jio managed to scoop in 100 million subscribers in a very short period of time owing to its free offers, BSNL too is planning on offering free data to its subscribers.
According to reports, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has announced that it would be offering 1 GB of free data to its users. However, this offer is exclusively applicable to BSNL customers who are not using the company’s mobile data service.
The state-run operator claims that this free offer is aimed at promoting the Digital India initiative. The company also expects this move to help it increase the number of BSNL mobile internet users. The offer would be available to BSNL subscribers pan-India. However, the procedure to avail the data is not yet revealed.
Speaking about the offer, BSNL said, “On pan India basis BSNL offers 1 GB free data for the smartphone users who are not using BSNL GSM data services. The intention of this offer is to promote number of internet users in BSNL network.”
