While not everyone seemed happy when the Blackberry Z10 was launched in India for Rs. 43490, the company, which has recently decided to go private, has announced a major discount on its flagship device in India.
As part of its festive offer, Blackberry has announced a discount of Rs. 13491 on its Blackberry Z10 smartphone. The device, which was initially priced at Rs. 43490, is now available for Rs. 29999 for a limited time. The price cut is targeted towards increasing the company’s customer base on the occasion of the festive season.
Blackberry was majorly depending on the Blackberry Z10 to turn around the sorry state of the company. However the strategy seemed to backfire for the company as it had to claim a pretax charge of at least $930 million on unsold inventory of the unsold Blackberry Z10, which amounted to an operating loss of nearly $1 billion.
Speaking about the reduced price, Sunil Lalvani, Managing Director India for BlackBerry said, “We continue to leverage festive season with relevant product and services promotions. BlackBerry 10 platform offers a new and unique mobile communication experience and at Rs.29999/- the BlackBerry Z10 smartphone is uniquely positioned to change the way in which our customers view mobile technology.”
