Considering the increasing popularity of BBM, which was recently was released for Android, LG has partnered with BlackBerry to have the popular messenger pre-installed on their smartphones.
LG and BlackBerry have revealed about their agreement to have the BlackBerry Messenger pre-installed on LG smartphones. The first device expected to feature the messenger pre-installed is the LG G Pro Lite. However the other LG smartphones to offer the service are not yet revealed. Other users in the meanwhile can download BBM from the Google Play store.
Meanwhile Micromax had already announced that the BlackBerry Messenger would be pre-installed on all their upcoming Canvas smartphones. BlackBerry claims that the instant messaging service garnered 20 million active users within a week of its launch on Android and iOS platforms.
Speaking about the partnership, Kevin Shin, Vice President of Marketing for Asia, the Middle East and CIS countries of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company, said, “BBM is widely used throughout the Middle East, Africa and Indonesia where smartphone users tend to engage heavily in social networking. The LG G Pro Lite offers an optimized BBM experience with its large, high quality display and embedded Stylus Pen.”
